  • Amazing Johnathan

If some of your favorite comedies include the likes of "Dumb and Dumber," "Tommy Boy," "There's Something About Mary" and "Planes, Trains and Automobiles," then Amazing Johnathan's humor is right up your alley. Dubbed the "Freddy Krueger of Comedy," Amazing Johnathan gives new meaning to politically incorrect and gives the audience numerous ways to go home and torture their friends.

  • The small, cozy showroom is not theater-style, and some seats don't offer the best view, but there are advantages and disadvantages to sitting in the front. You can see better, but you risk becoming fresh meat for Johnathan's tenderizing tricks. Before the show starts, a screen in the center of the stage shows clips from the above-mentioned movies, letting the audience know what they're in for.

  • Carrot Top

When Carrot Top takes the stage in front of his endless number of trunks, he turns the audience into Pandora, curious for what's inside.

  • But no evil spills out from these boxes -- only props -- the contents of Carrot Top's wild imagination. The red-haired comedian turns the stage into a one-man circus, sharing the creative contents as a video screen behind him and well-timed music punctuate his every thought.

  • George Wallace

George Wallace steps out on stage, shiny suit, hat and big ring on his finger and invites everyone to have a good time. And for the next 90 minutes, Wallace delivers on the invitation, keeping the audience laughing with his infectious humor.

The appeal of Wallace is his ability to connect with everyone, no matter how old they are or where they are from. He talks of scenarios everyone has been in, only he humorously voices out loud the thoughts in everyone's mind. He tells about finding an unaccompanied maid's cart in the hotel hallway and jokes that he takes advantage of the free stash, handing out shower caps for Christmas.

  • Louie Anderson

For a comedian who has been labeled the "Gentle Giant" and "Squeaky Clean," you'd think Louie Anderson's show would be a light-hearted, all-ages free-for-all.

  • But Louie's not quite the saint he's been made out to be - a naughty word or two sprinkles his tirades on gamblers, alcoholics and the like.

  • Rita Rudner

Neat, petite, pert: Rita Rudner, the headliner at Harrah's, has a gentle demeanor that masks a rapier-like wit. When it comes to laughs, the lady hits for distance.

  • The laughs are loud, long and consistent throughout her 70 minutes onstage. Her observations deal mainly with four areas -- Las Vegas, shopping, marriage and male-female relationships. No two shows play exactly alike. She is an expert at ad-lib, working with individuals in the audience, weaving them through the act.

  • Wayne Brady

He sings. He dances. He acts. He makes you laugh hysterically. He's able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.

  • Well, maybe he's not actually Superman, but Wayne Brady is one of the hardest working and most multitalented performers in the entertainment business and he manages to work singing, dancing, sketch and improv comedy all into his 90-minute show at the Venetian.

  • The Comedy Stop

With non-stop laughter on the bill, the Tropicana's Comedy Stop features some of the brightest new stars in the comedy arena.

  • Included on the roster are three comics who rotate weekly, the first of which also serves as an emcee.

The club is lined with rows of long tables along the sides and smaller, round tables nearest the stage, and is quite laid-back - it's pretty much a beer-drinking, jeans and sneakers kind of crowd.

  • The Improv At Harrah's

Budd Friedman founded the Improv in New York City in 1963, and it was only a matter of time that the club became one of the top showcases for up-and-coming comedic talent. Soon after, franchises of the famed comedy club starting budding up all over the country, boasting a roster of superstars such as Jerry Seinfeld and Drew Carey.

  • The Improv at Harrah's, one of more than a dozen franchises of the club, opened in Las Vegas in 1995 and has been keeping audiences smiling ever since. With a lineup of three comedians rotating weekly, the Improv brings top-name talent to the intimate theater.

  • Riviera Comedy Club

A stomping ground for some of the nation's hottest comedians, the Riviera Comedy Club also hosts bright up-and-comers at its 350-seat venue.

  • Modeled after a basement-style Manhattan club, the Riviera venue features rows of tables that run from the stage to the exit, with tables for smaller parties closest to the front. The semicircular stage provides plenty of room for the comedians to perform their shtick, with only a microphone illuminated by a spotlight.
